Greek Week

It has been a busy spring semester for Greek Life.  The University of Miami is a deferred recruitment campus meaning freshmen can only join in the spring semester.  As such we were pleased to welcome over 700 new members during the spring recruitment process.  Over the past several weeks, new members have participated in educational and Greek orientation events such as a New Member Symposium where they have had the opportunity to meet new members from all organization and learn about the values and expectations of joining a fraternity or sorority at the University of Miami.  Most of them have already been initiated into their organizations.

Student Government Election Results

Student Government (SG)

The student body came out to elect their Student Government (SG) representatives this February.  On February 17th, the “True to U” ticket was elected to represent the student body for the 2016-2017 academic year.  The “True to U” team included junior Vikesh Patel (president), junior Ashley Pittaluga (vice president) and junior Morgan Owens (treasurer).  Additionally, nine of the SG Senate seats were filled with the remaining seats up for election during the fall semester.

Internships are a key component in the job-search process for those looking to join the work force immediately after college. The Toppel Career Center is committed to providing students the opportunity to find internships where they will gain and develop skills as well as measure their interest in a particular role or company/organization.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, overall, 56.5 percent of students who performed an internship or co-op received a job offer, while only 36.5 percent of those with no internship/co-op experience received a job offer (NACE, 2015).
